Volunteers included youth union members, armed forces, officials, residents, and local and international visitors.

A large number of people were seen working along the beachfront on Sunday morning, removing tens of metric tons of litter and natural debris.

Fallen trees, household waste, and thick layers of mud covered stretches of the beach, normally celebrated as the ‘soul of tourism’ in the province, leaving it cluttered, discolored, and heavy with the smell of waste.

Nguyen Bao Tran, a student at Pham Van Dong High School, said she and her classmates registered to join the clean-up after the call by their school.

“The beach is a symbol of Nha Trang. Many tourists come here because of its beauty,” Tran said.

“Seeing it in bad condition is heartbreaking, so we desire to help restore it.”

Huynh Thi Nhu Y, deputy secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, noted that the volume of debris remains enormous and that the clean-up will take considerable time.

A representative of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association said that clean-up efforts will continue in the coming days, depending on how much additional debris drifts ashore following the floods.

The association is calling on more businesses, schools, and volunteer groups to join so that restoration efforts can be sustained and widely promoted.

The waste washing ashore originated upstream along the Cai River, where floodwaters swept debris into the river mouth before waves carried it onto Nha Trang Beach.
